Gangs are known for their symbolisms and gang signs. One of the most famous gang signs is a star, but do not get this confused, the Crips do not use any type of star to represent themselves. So if you are asking how many stars are on the crip flag, there are zero. Crips represent the color blue, and their hood.

So where does all this confusion come from, and why do some gangs have stars as a gang sign?

The confusion is that the Folk Nation and People Nation represent stars. Here is a little background on these gangs.

Folk Nation

The Folk Nation is a loosely organized alliance of street gangs that was originally formed in the Chicago area in the 1970s. It is one of the two major alliances of street gangs in the United States, the other being the People Nation. The Folk Nation consists of various gangs that share common symbols, colors, and ideologies.

Some of the more well-known gangs associated with the Folk Nation include the Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Black Gangster Disciples, and several others. Each gang within the Folk Nation may have its own hierarchy, leadership, and specific rules, but they all generally adhere to the same overall set of symbols and beliefs.

It’s important to note that the activities of gangs associated with the Folk Nation, like many street gangs, often involve criminal activities, including drug trafficking, violence, and other illegal actions. Law enforcement agencies across the United States have been actively working to combat gang-related crime and violence.

People Nation

The People Nation is a rival alliance of street gangs in the United States that emerged as a counterforce to the Folk Nation. Similar to the Folk Nation, the People Nation is a loose affiliation of various street gangs, and it is primarily known for the use of common symbols, colors, and ideologies among its member gangs.

Some of the more well-known gangs associated with the People Nation include the Latin Kings, Vice Lords, and Black P Stones, among others. Each gang within the People Nation may have its own hierarchy, leadership, and specific rules, but they generally share common symbols and beliefs.

Like many street gangs, gangs associated with the People Nation are often involved in criminal activities, including drug trafficking, violence, and other illegal actions. Law enforcement agencies work to combat gang-related crime and violence across the United States.

Significance of the Star

The five-pointed star has its origins with the Black Stone Rangers/Black P. Stone Ranger Nation, one of the larger street gangs. The alliance’s term “high five, six must die” is in reference to the five-pointed star versus the six-pointed star of their rivals in the Folk Nation alliance.

Conclusion

So to set the record straight Crips do not go along with the star, and there are no stars on the Crip flag, matter of fact the only Crip flag is a blue bandana.
