One of the most notorious sets in South Central Los Angeles, The 74 Hoover Criminals, aka or formerly known as the 74 Hoover Crips as of the 1990s.

The 74 Hoover Criminals are a black street gang situated on the West Side of South Central. 74 Hoover Crips are a sub set of the larger notorious, Hoover Criminals Gang. The Hoover Criminals in a whole are one of the most hated gangs in LA, due to the fact that the Hoovers killed Raymond Washington (known for forming the Crips)

The 74 Hoovers decided to change over to the criminal moniker, due to crip on crip killings. They decided to stop claiming Crip to differentiate themselves. Unlike the 52 Hoover Crips, which kept the Crip name.

Throughout the 80s the 74 Hoovers and the 52 Hoovers were big players in the crack cocaine business, and were estimated to be brining in $1 Million dollars annually.

Allies and Rivals

The 83 Hoover Criminals are just south of the 74 Hoovers, in which they have an alliance with, as well with all other Hoover Criminals.

The 74 Hoovers are allies with a number of gangs that still claim Crip, but are big enemies of all neighbourhood crips.

Some allies include, School Yard Crips, 78 Hard Time Hustler Crips, Gardena Shotgun Crips, Insane Gangster Crips which is under the Hoosane Alliance.

The Eight Tray Gangster Crips were once allies but now are considered enemies.

As mentioned, the Neighbourhood Crips are enemies, which include the Rollin 60s. Other Crip gangs that are enemies include, the 6 Pacc East Coast Crips, 76 East Coast Crips, Menlo Crips.

Naturally as a gang that once claimed Crip, they are rivals to the Bloods, although they hate the Neighbourhood Crips more.

Some of the rival Blood gangs include, 79 Mad Swan Bloods, Harvard Park Brims, Van Ness Gangster Brims, Fruit Town Brims, LA Denver Lane Bloods and the Crenshaw Mafia Gangster Bloods.

Subsets

Subsets are usually formed by members of the gang moving out the hood and starting up their own division in their new location.

This is the case for the 74 Hoover Crips out of Seattle, Washington, which started in 1985.

Turf

The 74 Hoover Crips stated around the 74th Street and Hoover Street between Vermont Ave and Figueroa Ave. They have been active since the 70s and is considered to be the third largest sub set under the Hoover Criminals Gang umbrella.
